Our Bumblebee houses are almost maintenance-free. After each season when bumblebees leave the box (in about November), the warm inner filling can be replaced for a new one. A clean and re-filled bumblebee house should be put away in a cellar or a barn for winter to maintain a longer lifespan. In the spring (in about March) the bumblebee house can be hung outside.
We only use a high-quality and flawless hand-made fleece. The fleece has been prepared (cleaned and cut); just plump it up and place it into the clean bumblebee house (make sure not to block its entrance!). We do not recommend filling the bumblebee house with a synthetic cotton or other cheap substitutes; a bumblebee could get entangled and die. More detailed information about our warm fleece may be found HERE.
One package is intended for one our hexagon; if you have a bumblebee house with two or three hexagons, you need to buy 2 or 3 packages of filling (if unclear, contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org). The package contains instructions for replacement.
